Susan Sands – Painter / Printmaker

After a degree in Fine Art at Reading University specializing in painting, it wasn’t till the ‘80s that Susan turned to printmaking at the Sir John Cass School of Art and the London College of Printing. Inspired by Norman Ackroyd and Michael Rothenstein, who opened a whole new world of mark making to her, she drew away from her initial acceptance of the disciplines of classical editioning towards the excitement of the new possibilities offered by exploring new and more unconventional techniques, even using them to add a vitality and energy in her paintings.
