"Burning Candles" by Peter Spriggs

This month's window is filled with tiny paintings of burning candles, each measuring 7.5x5cm / 3x2" presented in light coloured mounts and black frames and retailing at £75 each.

Candles are universal and we light them for many reasons like candle-lit vigils, religious prayer candles, hope in times of darkness, seasonal candles, celebratory birthday candles. These paintings are potent little symbols and as Peter says, "They help light our way through the world".

Peter Spriggs is an artist and lecturer.  He trained at Cardiff College of Art and the Royal College of Art, London and worked at Carmarthen School of Art for many years and now at Swansea College of Art, UWTSD
